Selected verses of the Glorious Quran

Parable of Mosquito

In Ayah 225 of Chapter 2 ( Surah Al-Baqara (The Cow)), Allah tells us that he has no disdain in mentioning a parable of some thing as small as a mosquito or some thing as smaller or bigger than a mosquito in the Holy Quran and through His verses.

The reason this Ayah struck me is because for all those who have given presentations or have taught or surely have had to explain anything to another individual, they know that the best way to explain anything is to get down to the other person’s level and the simplest example given, the better. Allah, being our Supreme and Best Teacher therefore despite his Elegance and Stature does not shy away from giving the smallest examples just so we can have a better understanding our religion and what is required of us.

Indeed, nothing in this world is big or small. It is a mosquito that can cause malaria and take us to death and it is a mosquito that causes dengue and a mosquito that can lead to a sleepless night.
Allah also tells us that only those people are kept in error who are:
-evil doers

– who break Allah’s covenant after accepting it and who;

-divide what Allah has bidden to be united ( and break relations ); and

– commit evil in the land.

May Allah save us from the evil from the mosquitos and may we not become those people in error and may Allah bless us with the foresight to maintain our good relations with our relatives and loved ones. Ameen.

Relevant Translation Below:

26. Verily, Allah is not ashamed to set forth a parable even of a mosquito or so much more when it is bigger (or less when it is smaller) than it. And as for those who believe, they know that it is the Truth from their Lord, but as for those who disbelieve, they say: “What did Allah intend by this parable?” By it He misleads many, and many He guides thereby. And He misleads thereby only those who are Al-Fasiqun (the rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
